Northern Negros Electric Cooperative, Inc. (NONECO) has locked in a 30-megawatt (MW) power supply agreement with Aboitiz Power Corp. (AboitizPower), combining solar and baseload energy to keep electricity costs steady and service reliable.

AboitizPower said in a media statement on Wednesday that the deal splits the supply between 10 MW of mid-merit power from Aboitiz Solar Power Inc. and 20 MW of baseload from GNPower Mariveles Energy Center.

“We are honored that NONECO has chosen AboitizPower to deliver a 30 MW combined supply that will sustain communities and business alike.

By supplying dependable baseload power and solar energy, we are providing a balanced solution that addresses the dual need for sustainability and reliability,” AboitizPower Wholesale Vice President for Commercial Planning and Portfolio Management Gerard Roxas said.

NONECO’s coverage spans the cities of Victorias, Sagay, Escalante, Cadiz, San Carlos, and the towns of Manapla, Toboso, E.B. Magalona, and Calatrava, meaning thousands of households and businesses stand to benefit from more stable rates and consistent electricity.

“The steady supply at competitive rates ensures continuous support for local growth and enhanced quality of life as our region evolves, fostering a prosperous future for the businesses and communities we serve,” NONECO Board President Nicolas U. Camara said.

AboitizPower is currently working to triple its Cleanergy capacity by 2030 by adding 3,700 MW to support the country’s growing energy demand and renewable goals.
