Marikina City Mayor Marjorie Ann Teodoro officiated the wedding of 10 rider-couples in a special Valentine-season ceremony at Kapitan Moy Plaza in Barangay Sta. Elena on Thursday, 12 February.

The mass wedding, organized by the city government, brought together couples ranging from delivery riders to motorcycle enthusiasts, who formalized their union before family members, friends and local officials.

In her message, Teodoro compared marriage to a long motorcycle ride, marked by smooth stretches and inevitable bumps along the way. She stressed that a lasting union requires trust, patience and steady partnership, urging the newlyweds to remain committed even during difficult times.

Beyond the exchange of vows, the ceremony underscored the city’s continuing programs to strengthen families and promote a culture rooted in love, responsibility and community solidarity.

To help the couples begin their married life, the city government also provided monetary gifts as part of the celebration.

Under the Local Government Code of 1991, city mayors are authorized to solemnize marriages within their jurisdiction as part of their official duties.
