Two birds of prey were rescued by concerned citizens, proving that people still care deeply for the environment.

In the town of Baler, Aurora, a farmer rescued a weak Philippine hawk-eagle he found in his rice field at Barangay Suklayin on 7 February 2026.

The farmer brought the animal in their house and put it in a cage before turning it over to the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) of Baler.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) immediately provided the eagle with much needed medical attention.

According to DENR, the eagle will be examined by a veterinarian before being released into the wild.

In Mabalacat City, Pampanga, a six-year-old boy rescued an owl that was being chased by a cat near the Mabalacat area of the Clark Airport on 2 February 2026.

According to the Mabalacat City ENRO, Conner Lucas Yabut saw the bird being chased by a cat. He then asked his father to help him recover the animal.

Conner said that the owl was wounded and weak. He then named the owl as ChiChi.

The Mabalacat City ENRO received the owl after it was turned over to them.

"Salamat sa malasakit sa wildlife, kahit bata pa lang marunong na mag-alaga sa kalikasan,” the ENRO stated.
