Department of Justice (DoJ) Secretary Frederick Vida urged six newly appointed officials to prioritize the rule of law and the delivery of swift, accessible justice during a swearing-in ceremony at the Justice Hall.
Vida, who presided over the 2 February ceremony, told the appointees that their roles carry a significant duty to serve the Filipino people with integrity and a sense of urgency.
He stressed that the department’s “marching order” is to deliver justice that is felt by every Filipino in real time.
The new officials sworn into office include Undersecretary Majken Anika S. Gran-Ong and Assistant Secretaries Maria Charina Buena-Dy Po, Jose Marino Bernandez, and Maria Elisa Germar.
Also joining the leadership team are Administrative Service Director IV Leonyda Angostora and Financial Service Director IV Emmanuel Lowell Pandaan.
The Justice secretary reminded the group that leadership in the government is anchored on public trust rather than authority.
He encouraged the officials to remain steadfast in their principles and embody the values of a “Bagong Pilipinas,” citing that their appointments are ultimately about serving their constituents.
The appointments are part of an ongoing effort by the department to strengthen its leadership team as it implements reforms meant to improve efficiency and public access to legal services.
