Calvin Abueva has been traded by Titan Ultra to Converge after expressing disappointment during the recent Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Philippine Cup.

The league’s Commissioner’s Office formally approved the trade on Tuesday that will send the temperamental forward to the FiberXers in exchange for Rey Suerte, King Caralipio and rookie Mark Denver Omega.

Abueva has been vocal in his discontent at Titan Ultra.

In a post on social media, he openly expressed his desire to get traded for a fresh start.

Asan na ung karapatan ko pag kayo may gusto kayo ang nasusunod ayaw ko na kahit star player (Where is my rights? I don’t want it anymore, even though I’m the star player),” wrote Abueva, the second overall pick of the 2012 draft by the disbanded Alaska Aces.

The 37-year-old Abueva still has a lot of gas left in his tank. In fact, he is coming off his finest performance in recent years after averaging a league-best 23.6 points and 11.9 rebounds per game to emerge third in the Best Player of the Conference race behind June Mar Fajardo of San Miguel and rookie Juan Gomez de Liano of Converge.

With the trade, Abueva will have a breath of fresh air as he joins a squad that is overflowing with potential featuring rising stars like Juan Gomez de Liaño, Justine Baltazar, Justin Arana, Alec Stockton and Schonny Winston.

But more than that, he will be reunited with Delta Pineda — the Converge mentor who stood as his benefactor during his college days at San Sebastian College in the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
