

Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso announced on Monday, 2 February, the release of P69.8 million in allowances for public school teachers under the Schools Division Office (SDO) of Manila.
This was disclosed by the mayor during the flag-raising ceremony at Manila City Hall, saying the teachers’ allowances—covering 11,633 beneficiaries for the period October to December 2025—will be released this week.
“Teachers in the City of Manila—11,633—you will receive this week for your October, November, December allowances, worth P69.8 million pesos,” the Mayor said.
The mayor said that in addition to teachers’ benefits, the city will also release P9.68 million in allowances for 6,452 public school students in the Grade 12 level, also covering the last quarter of 2025, bringing the total SDO-related releases to P79.48 million for the period.
He said the city remains focused on sustaining education support while carefully managing city finances.
“There are things in the government that need to be done for the benefit of the majority and for long term period,” Isko said noting that the releases reflect gradual improvements in the city’s fiscal position.
The mayor also announced that beyond the SDO allocations, the release of P26.03 million in allowances for 8,675 students of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM), covering October to December 2025.
Her also said the city will release P11.10 million in allowances for 5,551 students of the Universidad de Manila (UDM), covering October to November 2025. He said the allowance program was designed to ensure access to education for financially challenged students.
“In 2019, I opted to create and pass an ordinance to give them allowances, para walang mag-aaral na hindi makapasok kahit pamasahe man lamang,” he said.
Uniformed services will likewise receive support, with P26.03 million released for all personnel of the Manila Police District (MPD) for the fourth quarter of 2025, and P2.76 million for the Manila Fire District (MFD) for the same period.
Additional allocations included P150,000 for beneficiaries of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) for October to December 2025, and P3 million for 400 personnel of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), covering allowances for April to June 2025.
The city will release a total of P155.04 million in allowances and subsidies across education, public safety, and law enforcement sectors.
“I’m happy to put a smile to almost 26,000 individuals—students, employees, teachers—across this financial assistance being given by your City Government,” he said.
