The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) has reshuffled 46 police chiefs across Western Visayas, a move officials say is part of a routine rotation aimed at strengthening police operations in the region.
PRO-6 spokesperson Police Major Lailyn Sencil said the relief and reassignment of the officials were approved by the Second Level Officers’ Placement Board, chaired by Police Brigadier General Alexander G. Mariano, the deputy regional director for administration. The process, she said, was meant to ensure transparency, objectivity, and strict compliance with PNP rules.
According to Sencil, the reshuffle followed established criteria such as length of service, a minimum of six years of cumulative tenure, and merit- or performance-based assessments.
The latest round of movements forms part of the PNP’s broader human resource management program under PNP chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., which aims to deploy personnel more effectively and keep the organization running efficiently.
PRO-6 Regional Director Police Brigadier General Josefino Ligan said regular reassignments are necessary to maintain both efficiency and integrity within the police force.
“Reassignment helps improve efficiency and prevents prolonged stays in a single post that could adversely affect police operations,” Ligan said.
PRO-6 added that the reshuffle is expected to bring in fresh leadership and further reinforce professionalism in police units throughout Western Visayas.
