'White Lotus' season 4 announces cast

HBO’s hit black comedy The White Lotus is returning for a fourth season, this time set in France. Following the luxury resort-set drama’s first three seasons in Hawaii, Sicily, and Thailand, Season 4 will explore a new group of guests and employees over the span of a week, promising the series’ signature mix of humor, social satire, and mystery.

The official Instagram account for the show confirmed the latest additions to the cast on 30 January 2026. Helena Bonham Carter, Chris Messina, and Marissa Long will join previously announced stars Steve Coogan, Caleb Jonte Edwards, Alexander Ludwig, and AJ Michalka.

Marissa Long, making her television debut, shared her excitement online. “I’ll try to make this short and sweet But I am absolutely raw right now!!!” she wrote. “I am so in the middle of so many feelings and I’m unbelievably honored to be joining this with such incredible people.” She added, “And Thank you Mike white!!!!!!!!!! I’m speechless and cannot wait for this journey, feeling deeply blessed.. LETS GO!!!!”

Helena Bonham Carter has previously starred in The Crown, Sweeney Todd, The King’s Speech, and the Harry Potter franchise. Chris Messina is known for roles in The Mindy Project, Sharp Objects, and Based on a True Story. AJ Michalka and Alexander Ludwig were initially announced in December 2025, with Ludwig posting, “Beyond honored. Huge thank you to Mike for your trust in me and can’t wait to bring this unbelievable material to life.”

While plot details remain largely under wraps, creator Mike White has indicated the setting will move beyond the typical beach resort environment. Speaking after Season 3, White said, “For the fourth season, I want to get a little bit out of the ‘crashing waves against rocks’ vernacular. But there’s always room for more murders at the White Lotus hotels.” He has also suggested the upcoming season may feature elements like a film festival, making the story “a little less heady” compared to previous installments.

Season 4 will be filmed at locations including the Château de La Messardière in Saint-Tropez, a five-star hotel in the South of France. This continues the series’ tradition of situating its social satire and murder mystery amid luxurious resorts, combining high-stakes drama with biting commentary on wealth, class, and human behavior.

Mike White will serve as writer, director, and executive producer for the new season, with David Bernad and Mark Kamine also as executive producers. As with prior seasons, the story will follow both guests and hotel staff, intertwining comedy, intrigue, and suspense.

All three previous seasons of The White Lotus are currently available on HBO Max. No official release date has been announced for Season 4.
