Titan Ultra has parted ways with head coach Johnedel Cardel after just one conference.
It was a short stint for Cardel after taking the coaching reins in the franchise’s debut tournament in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Season 50 Philippine Cup.
Inheriting a competitive roster following the Giant Risers’ purchase of the NorthPort franchise last year, Cardel handled a promising Titan Ultra with Calvin Abueva and Joshua Munzon at the helm.
The Giant Risers made a rousing debut with an upset over Meralco, 100-96, behind the 41-point explosion of Abueva.
However, Titan Ultra only added three more wins in its elimination round output and missed the playoffs.
Cardel made his return to the league last year with the Giant Risers after getting sacked by Terrafirma in 2024 following a six-year tenure.
Titan Ultra management has yet to officially name a replacement with assistant coach Rensy Bajar eyed to take care of the team’s preparation for the coming Commissioner’s Cup.
Cardel suffered the same fate as former Phoenix coach Willy Wilson earlier this month.
Wilson called the shots for the Fuel Masters during the all-Filipino conference after replacing Jamike Jarin in an offseason coaching shake up.
Phoenix gave its former player the boot after a dismal 3-8 record just two weeks ago.
The Fuel Masters also let go of Jarin, who worked as consultant after getting replaced by Wilson.
