Alex Eala’s dream of winning the inaugural Philippine Women’s Open came crashing down after a 4-6, 4-6 loss to Camila Osorio of Colombia in the quarterfinal at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center on Thursday.
Eala fought valiantly for 89 minutes but lost steam as she continues her pursuit for her second Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) title.
“Too bad I wasn’t able to make it. It wasn’t for me today and Congratulations to Camila,” Eala said.
Despite the loss, Eala will pocket $ 3,450 or P 203,543 for making it to the quarterfinal of this prestigious WTA 125 competition backed by the Philippine Sports Commission and the Philippine Lawn Tennis Association.
Up next for Eala will be the Abu Dhabi Open on 1 February.
