

The cistern tanks in Cainta, Rizal not only help mitigate flooding in the town, it can also be used to irrigate plants as well as serving as recreational parks for children and elderly.
According to Nieto, he passed by a truck collecting water from a cistern tank in Vista Verde to water the plants along Imelda Avenue and Ortigas Avenue.
"These are rainwaters that we collected and temporarily stored to prevent it from flowing into the river and contributing to the rapid rise of water levels," Nieto said.
"We save on water consumption, and we are able to recycle water for other purposes," the mayor added.
The local government has also converted the top of the cistern tank into a recreational area and a park.
"To maximize the space and ensure it doesn't go to waste, the area above the cistern tank was converted into a recreational area and a park for children and senior citizens," Nieto said.
"Let's go, Cainta! It’s free and unlimited to think of things to do," the mayor added.
