At first glance, Batang Paco plays like a riotous action-comedy. But beneath the punches, punchlines, and peril is a deeply Filipino story of love—one that finds its emotional anchors in the unlikely tandem of Empoy Marquez and AiAi Delas Alas.

Set to arrive in cinemas this February, the film marks the first theatrical offering of MiVida Productions, and it wastes no time declaring its intent: heartfelt stories that balance entertainment with emotional truth.

Empoy headlines the film as Paco, a soft-spoken tattoo artist who prefers to stay invisible in a loud, dangerous world. When his young daughter is taken by a crime syndicate, Paco is thrust into a nightmare that demands courage he never knew he had.

“Hindi perpekto si Paco—pero gagawin niya ang lahat para sa anak niya,” Empoy shares, summing up a character whose heroism is born not from strength, but from devotion.

Anchoring Paco’s journey is AiAi Delas Alas, whose presence adds both grounding warmth and emotional gravity. Known for her comic brilliance and dramatic depth, AiAi plays a pivotal role in shaping the film’s moral compass—reminding Paco, and the audience, that love is not passive, but fierce.

The pairing works because it feels earned. Empoy brings vulnerability and disarming humor, while AiAi delivers the kind of emotional authority that turns even the most outrageous scenes into something real. Together, they turn Batang Paco into more than a genre film—it becomes a family story with teeth and tenderness.

Behind the project is MiVida Productions’ founding vision, led by Ana Abiera Del Moral, who describes the film as a statement of purpose.

“This film defines what MiVida stands for—stories with heart, courage, and soul,” she says.

Directed by Rechie del Carmen and written by Gina Marissa Tagasa, the film unfolds against a gritty yet familiar Manila backdrop, where chaos and compassion often exist side by side. Action set pieces collide with quiet emotional moments, while comedy never strays far from consequence.

Supporting performances from a broad ensemble add texture, but it is Empoy and AiAi who carry the film’s emotional spine—one discovering his inner hero, the other reinforcing why that transformation matters.

Batang Paco is just the beginning for MiVida,” Ana adds, hinting at a studio determined to tell stories that resonate beyond the screen.

In the end, Batang Paco is not about becoming fearless—it’s about choosing love despite fear. And through the combined strength of Empoy Marquez and AiAi Delas Alas, the film reminds us that sometimes, the bravest heroes are the ones who never meant to be heroes at all.

Batang Paco opens in cinemas nationwide on February 18.
