Commuters on the EDSA Carousel can now access free and fast internet after the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) launched free WiFi service in 17 bus stations along the EDSA Busway.
The DICT said the initiative is part of the government’s directive to bring reliable and free connectivity to more Filipinos.
The WiFi service offers speeds of up to 60 Mbps, is available 24/7, and has no data usage limit, according to the DICT.
The program aims to make public travel more convenient while supporting a more connected and modern Philippines.
Meanwhile, the number of stranded passengers in ports continued to rise due to the expected effects of tropical storm “Ada.”
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported that more than 7,200 passengers were unable to travel by sea as several parts of the country’s waters experienced strong waves.
In addition, 31 vessels and over 2,600 rolling cargoes were stranded.
The PCG also reported that more than 90 vessels sought shelter in various ports.
The highest number of stranded passengers was recorded in the Bicol Region, followed by Eastern Visayas.
