The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Friday warned friends, business associates, and security providers of businessman Charlie “Atong” Ang against giving him shelter or any form of assistance as authorities intensified efforts to arrest him over the missing sabungeros case.
PNP Chief Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said tracker and intelligence units have expanded monitoring operations, including known backdoor exits, to prevent Ang from fleeing the country.
Police said they expect Ang to use his connections and financial resources to evade arrest, prompting the PNP to widen its manhunt and coordinate with the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) should he manage to leave the Philippines. “I advise him to use that instead to defend himself in court rather than playing hide and seek with us because he will be arrested eventually,” Nartatez said.
As part of the enforcement measures, Nartatez approved the revocation of Ang’s gun permits following the issuance of arrest warrants against him.
Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla earlier classified Ang as the country’s most wanted fugitive, with a P10-million reward offered for information leading to his arrest.
The PNP also cautioned the public against providing false or misleading information about Ang’s whereabouts, noting that individuals who obstruct operations may face criminal liability.
Security agencies were likewise warned against extending protection, including bodyguard or escort services, with authorities saying violators could face administrative and criminal sanctions.
The PNP said it remains focused on locating Ang, restricting his movements, and serving the arrest warrant issued by the court.
