Acting Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. vowed Wednesday to conduct a “thorough and impartial” investigation into a rape complaint filed against a police officer assigned to Manila.
Nartatez said the PNP is fully cooperating with the National Police Commission (Napolcom), which has opened a parallel administrative investigation into the case. The alleged victim recently filed a formal complaint with the commission.
The victim and her partner were received at the Office of the Acting Chief PNP at Camp Crame on Wednesday. Officials there listened to their concerns and explained the status of the investigation.
“Our foremost priority is the welfare of the victim,” Nartatez said. “We will conduct a thorough and impartial investigation to uncover the truth and ensure that justice is served.”
Initial reports indicate the incident allegedly occurred in early December 2025. The victim told authorities she had been invited by the suspect, an active-duty officer, to a gathering with friends.
She reported losing consciousness at a social venue and later discovered she had been sexually assaulted.
Nartatez stressed that the PNP maintains a zero-tolerance policy for misconduct. He said any officer found to have violated the law will be held accountable and face both criminal and administrative consequences.
The PNP is currently coordinating with other government agencies to provide assistance to the victim and her family while the investigation proceeds.
