The Regional Development Council (RDC) has officially greenlighted the “Diamond Route,” a new inter-island ferry service connecting Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan, aimed at boosting connectivity across MIMAROPA.

Marinduque Governor Mel Go said the route will feature modern, world-class vessels designed to ensure safe and efficient travel, even in challenging sea conditions. The project supports President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s transport modernization agenda and was recently discussed with Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri.

As RDC Chair on Infrastructure, Governor Go highlighted how the Diamond Route is expected to stimulate regional growth by improving logistics, tourism access, and economic integration. “This is about connectivity and unlocking the full economic potential of MIMAROPA. Reliable inter-island transport means better market access for our farmers, safer travel for residents, and more tourism opportunities across all four provinces,” he said.

Zubiri expressed support for transport, infrastructure, agriculture, and tourism initiatives in the region. He also invited Governor Go to attend the opening of the Senate session on 26 January to discuss regional priorities further. Go, in turn, welcomed the senator to visit Marinduque to see the province’s development initiatives and tourism potential firsthand.

The Diamond Route is expected to complement existing maritime transport systems, providing more frequent and reliable service for travelers and businesses across the MIMAROPA provinces.
