The Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB) is set to make major developments aimed at boosting tourism in the ecozone.

According to Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) senior information officer Hazel Keith D. Elloren, the FAB is in the process of redeveloping existing facilities and developing areas that will provide investors a place to put up businesses in the Freeport and enjoy sports and recreation activities in the process.

FAB Golf Course

She said the AFAB is redeveloping the 16-hectare FAB Golf Course, with 14.9 hectares allocated for a redesigned 9-hole golf course, while the remaining 1.7 hectares will be used to put up a two-storey clubhouse as well as other amenities.

Once developed, the project is expected to breathe new life to one of the Freeport’s open spaces.

Central Business District

A Central Business District that will serve as the Freeport’s hub for commerce, services, and community life will likewise be put up.

The project will occupy 23,000 square meters of land and will feature a mix of modern facilities including a shopping mall and hotel, office buildings, commercial complexes, multi-story parking, and a commercial condominium.

Located near existing access roads and public facilities, the Central Business District will become a focal point of activities for the town of Mariveles.

Elloren added that a FAB Boardwalk is also on the pipeline, with the Mattel Beach shoreline to be reshaped into a new tourist destination.

The FAB Boardwalk will cover 12,000 square meters that will be used as a commercial and recreation strip along the Freeport’s waterfront.
