The Philippine National Police (PNP) has launched a comprehensive investigation into a private security firm following a fatal shooting at a Commonwealth Avenue car dealership that left two guards dead on Christmas Eve.
The suspect, also a security guard at the facility, was arrested Thursday in Manila. According to the PNP Supervisory Office for Security and Investigation Agencies (SOSIA), the suspect did not have a License to Exercise Security Profession.
Investigators found that while one victim held a valid license, the second victim’s license had expired at the time of the shooting. The security firm involved currently holds a valid license to operate but could face suspension or revocation if found grossly negligent in its deployment practices.
In response to the incident, SOSIA issued nationwide memorandums reinforcing ethical standards to deter workplace bullying and reiterating the strict prohibition against deploying unlicensed personnel under Republic Act 11917.
