MANILA, Philippines — The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) has assured customers it is fully prepared to address any electricity service issues that may arise over the holiday season.
Crews and personnel will remain on standby around the clock, even on Christmas Day, to serve its more than 8 million customers and help prevent power disruptions.
Joe R. Zaldarriaga, Meralco Vice President and Head of Corporate Communications, reminded households to observe electrical safety during the holidays. “Contingency measures are in place, and our crews are prepared to respond to any electricity service concern,” he said.
Meralco also advised customers to follow key safety tips:
Unplug Christmas lights and appliances when not in use or when leaving the house.
Inspect lights for cracks, frays, or damaged wires before reuse.
Avoid nails or thumb tacks when installing lights; use light hangers instead.
Do not chain extension cords or overload outlets.
Keep a fire extinguisher ready at home in case of emergencies.
While Meralco Business Centers will be closed on Christmas Eve (24 December) and Christmas Day (25 December), customers can report power concerns via the MyMeralco app, official social media accounts on Facebook (www.facebook.com/meralco) and X (@meralco), or by texting 0920-9716211 or 0917-5516211. The Meralco Hotline at 16211 is also available for urgent assistance.
