The local government of Muntinlupa City honored resident Iluminado Pascua with a P100,000 cash gift recently to mark his 100th birthday, highlighting the celebration of the city’s 108th founding anniversary.
Pascua, a retired police colonel known as “Tatay Lumeng,” served 33 years in the police force. Mayor Ruffy Biazon personally delivered the incentive to Pascua, who celebrated his milestone birthday 11 December.
Biazon cited that under City Ordinance No. 2018-147, all residents who reach the age of 100 are entitled to the cash gift. The local incentive is awarded alongside the benefits of the Centenarians Act of 2016, a national law that provides cash gifts to Filipinos reaching the century mark.
The recognition took place amid the city’s 108th anniversary festivities on 19 December and during his keynote speech, Biazon described Muntinlupa as a community “forged by different generations,” where every resident’s contribution has helped the city become one of the country’s most progressive.
As part of the anniversary events, Biazon also led the blessing of the new Muntinlupa Inclusive Learning Resource Center. The facility is designed to support children with disabilities and developmental needs through specialized therapies, learning tools and programs.
