Tea time just got furry: Manila’s first pet-friendly café opens

As more Filipinos embrace pet ownership, the demand for pet-friendly spaces is growing.
Cafés and lifestyle spots that welcome pets not only make the experience more inclusive but also strengthen the bond between owners and their furry companions, promoting responsible pet care in the process.
International tea brand Chagee has captured Manila’s taste buds as it launches Southeast Asia’s first pet-friendly store in Eastwood City, Quezon City.

Designed to combine tea culture with pet companionship, the branch features alfresco seating, non-slip flooring, air purifiers and a dedicated cleaning station to ensure safety, hygiene and comfort for both pets and their owners. Playful touches such as a rooftop cat installation, dog sculptures and pet-themed cups add to the welcoming, whimsical atmosphere for pet owners and their fur babies.
In line with its pet-friendly vision, Chagee is partnering with Pawssion Project, a non-profit organization that has rescued over 3,000 stray animals and rehomed more than 2,000 since 2018. The store will feature photos of rescued animals to encourage adoption and raise awareness about stray animals in the Philippines.
“Launching Chagee’s first pet-friendly store reflects our commitment to creating meaningful moments of connection,” Christopher Tiong, general manager of Chagee Philippines, said. “Our tea brings people together, and we know the bonds with our pets are just as special. Partnering with Pawssion Project allows us to help animals in need while giving our customers a space where they and their pets feel welcomed and valued.”
