The Department of Justice (DOJ) is set to release resolutions on three of the five pending flood control project cases in Bulacan involving SYMS Construction Trading before the end of the month, a DOJ official said.
Justice Department spokesperson Atty. Polo Martinez said the timeline for the release of the resolutions has been expedited.
“The first three, I think… I cannot give a definite date. But definitely, it’s being fast-tracked. You can expect it within the month, I would say,” Martinez said.
Martinez clarified that the preliminary investigation conducted on Monday is separate from the five SYMS-related cases.
He said the DOJ is currently handling six additional cases referred back by the Office of the Ombudsman through deputization, which involve different contractors.
Martinez stressed that Monday’s preliminary investigation did not involve the five SYMS cases.
The six newly referred cases involve contractors Wawao Builders and Topnotch Catalyst Builders Inc. and also pertain to flood control projects in Bulacan.
Former Bulacan First District Engineers Henry Alcantara and Brice Hernandez are reportedly among the respondents in the new cases.
In total, the DOJ is handling 11 cases related to flood control projects in Bulacan, including five involving SYMS Construction Trading and six involving Wawao Builders and Topnotch Catalyst Builders Inc.
