Barangay Ginebra guns for a quarterfinals berth against a streaking Rain or Shine side in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Philippine Cup on Wednesday at the Khalifa Sports City Stadium in Bahrain.

Tip-off will be at 11:55 p.m. (Manila time) as the Kings look to win their fourth straight game and complete the cast for the quarterfinals.

With Ginebra holding a 5-4 win-loss record, it only needs one more win to advance to the next round and shut the door on Titan Ultra, which sports a 4-6 card.

Kings head coach Tim Cone said while they have two more games left in their schedule, they need to play with the same hunger and intensity that got them three straight wins.

“We know we got a tough assignment in front of us in Rain or Shine, the league leaders. They’re playing clutch basketball and they’re really playing well when they have to go down the stretch, and that makes them a real high-character team which you expect from Yeng Guiao,” Cone said.

“We know how tough it’s gonna be. It’s the one that could springboard us forward and so it’s an important one as well.”

The Elasto Painters are coming off a 101-92 victory over Magnolia last Tuesday as they secured a twice-to-beat advantage for the playoffs.

For Gian Mamuyac, who scored 14 points, they are not satisfied yet as they look to get another win heading into the playoffs.

“We deserved this (twice-to-beat) and we earned it. But the job isn’t done yet,” Mamuyac said.

“I hope we continue to get more wins.”

Jhonard Clarito will be the man to watch for Rain or Shine after he had 22 points and 11 rebounds against Magnolia.

Jayson David is expected to once again produce for Ginebra after scoring 16 points in their 108-77 win over Terrafirma last Friday.
