Jake Figueroa will be seeing action in the Korean Basketball League (KBL) following a stellar performance for National University in Season 88 University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) men’s basketball tournament.
His Korean club, Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus, made the announcement late Friday, saying that the 23-year-old forward will replace former College of Saint Benilde star Migs Oczon as their Asian Player import.
“Jake Figueroa has joined us as our Asian Quota player. Please cheer for Hyundai as we grow together with Figueroa,” the team posted on social media.
With that, Figueroa will be the latest Filipino to jump into the Korean bandwagon, joining former UAAP stars Kevin Quiambao, JD Cagulangan and SJ Belangel.
Figueroa, who averaged 13.9 points, 7.2 rebounds and 3.9 assists, will see action in the KBL oozing with momentum as he led the Bulldogs to the top spot of the Season 88 eliminations before they were stunned by De La Salle University in the Final Four.
