A group of priests and lawyers in Surigao del Sur has filed plunder, graft, and ethics complaints against Surigao del Sur 1st District Rep. Romeo Momo and members of his family over alleged irregularities in P1.4 billion worth of government infrastructure projects.
The complaint centers on contracts awarded to Surigao La Suerte Corp., where Momo and relatives were allegedly listed as corporate officers.
“SEC filings show Congressman Momo was listed as a director during periods when SLSC was obtaining government projects,” the group said.
“The company’s paid-up capital increased dramatically, from P10 million in 2019 to P200 million in 2023.”
The complainants noted Momo’s previous role as a Department of Public Works and Highways official overseeing planning and project implementation, saying his dual history “heightens concerns” over contracts awarded to a firm linked to his family.
Momo denied any wrongdoing. “I would like to make it clear that there is no conflict of interest in my work,” he said. He maintained he had divested from the company and dismissed the complaints as politically motivated.
