Former senator “Bong” Revilla on Wednesday filed his counter-affidavit at the Department of Justice over a complaint linked to an alleged ghost flood control project in Bulacan.
According to Atty. Francesca Lourdes Señga, spokesperson for Revilla, the complaint was for violation of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.
The lawyer said that aside from his counter-affidavit, Revilla submitted evidence to prove that “all the contents of the allegations, accusations, and complaints against him are lies and nothing but lies.”
She said her client expects the DOJ to be fair, to look at the evidence, and to prevent the complaint from reaching the court.
Prosecutor General Richard “Dong” Fadullon earlier said Revilla and former Ako Bicol Party-list Representative Zaldy Co were included as respondents in the flood control projects in Bulacan.
Revilla was added in the complaint involving SYMS Construction, the DOJ said.
The embattled senator over the weekend denied his alleged involvement, saying he was an “easy target being used to muddle the truth.”
Earlier, DOJ spokesman Raphael Niccolo Martinez said Revilla and Co were included as respondents in at least two flood control cases involving SYMS Construction and Trading.
The DOJ spokesperson said the two are also among the respondents in complaints recently filed by the National Bureau of Investigation involving ghost projects of Wawao Builders and Topnotch Catalyst Builders.
The NBI complaints, according to Martinez, are now undergoing initial evaluation by a DOJ panel of prosecutors.
Earlier, former public works undersecretary Roberto Bernardo testified before the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee that Revilla had received around 25 percent in commissions from flood control projects.
The former senator, through his lawyers, denied the allegation.
