The Philippine National Police (PNP) awarded a total of P10.6 million in cash rewards Tuesday to 30 informants whose tips led to the arrest of 30 wanted individuals nationwide.

During a ceremonial awarding held at the PNP National Headquarters in Camp Crame, the informants received their rewards in plastic envelopes while wearing full-face masks to maintain anonymity.

The event was led by Acting PNP Chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez and other top PNP officials.

PNP Director for Intelligence Police Maj. Gen. Wilson Joseph Lopez confirmed that the monetary rewards were sourced from the agency’s intelligence fund, with allocations approved by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

The arrests covered individuals wanted for serious crimes, including murder, rape and homicide, Lopez said.

The highest reward of P5.3 million was granted to an informant whose tip led to the February 2023 arrest of a suspect wanted for seven counts of murder and 25 counts of frustrated murder.

Meantime, the lowest reward, P50,000, was given to an informant who helped in the January 2024 arrest of a suspect wanted for double murder by the Kalinga Provincial Intelligence Unit.

Nartatez stressed that the reward program aims to strengthen cooperation between the police and the community.

“This is an incentive for those who can give information for the solution of a case. It will speed up investigations and encourage our fellow citizens to come forward,” Nartatez said, while also assuring the public that police remain committed to their duties regardless of the reward program.

The PNP chief urged citizens to continue reporting information that can help solve crimes, reaffirming the agency’s mandate to maintain law and order.
