A 66-year-old woman identified as a member of the Communist Party of the Philippines’ armed wing, the New People’s Army (NPA) and its auxiliary, the Militiang Bayan, voluntarily surrendered to authorities Friday in Botolan, Zambales.
The surrender was facilitated by the Zambales 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) and other operating units at the PMFC Headquarters in Barangay Malimanga, Candelaria town.
The individual, whose name was withheld, voluntarily turned over a .38-caliber revolver without a serial number, one piece of ammunition and several pieces of subversive documents.
Authorities also cited that the woman is employed as a janitress.
The operating units ensured the safe and proper documentation of the surrendered individual and the confiscated items.
She is currently under the custody of the Zambales 1st PMFC for tactical interrogation to gather vital information for future operations. Initial financial assistance was also provided to the woman.
“The Zambales 1st PMFC continues to strengthen peace initiatives, encourage more voluntary surrenders, and promote a safer and more peaceful community for all,” the PMFC said.
