Rain or Shine downs Converge for top spot

Rain or Shine defeated Converge, 90-84, to take the top spot in the standings of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Philippine Cup at the Ynares Center in Montalban, Rizal on Sunday.

Santi Santillan led the way for the Elasto Painters as he dropped 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds in their seventh win in nine games.

Rain or Shine head coach Yeng Guiao said luck was on their side as the FiberXers without prized center Justin Arana who was out due to an ankle injury.

“We got a really big break with Arana’s injury. Their rotation among their bigs became short," Guiao said.

Gian Mamuyac added 15 points, six rebounds, three assists, one steal for Ran or Shine while Mike Malonzo had a double-double game of 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Juan Gomez de Liaño scored with 20 points along with nine rebounds, six assists for Converge as they dropped to a 6-3 slate in the standings.
