Justice Undersecretary Jojo Cadiz has resigned from his post, according to Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro.

Cadiz was linked to JSJ Builders Inc., which was incorporated in 2023 and reportedly owned by his son, who was only 21 years old in 2023, placing him at 19 years old in 2023.

Based on government data from the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Department of Public Works and Highways, the construction firm was awarded over P200 million worth of projects in Ilocos Norte.

Its offices are situated in Quezon City.

Cadiz was also reportedly a close aide of the Marcos family and was alleged by former lawmaker Zaldy Co to be a “bagman” of the President, delivering kickbacks to him and to former Speaker Martin Romualdez, but Castro couldn’t confirm ties with the Chief Executive.

With his position as Undersecretary, Cadiz is prohibited by the 1987 Constitution, particularly in Article VII Section 13 from being “directly or indirectly, practice any other profession, participate in any business, or be financially interested in any contract with, or in any franchise, or special privilege granted by the Government or any subdivision, agency, or instrumentality thereof, including government-owned or controlled corporations or their subsidiaries.”
