Jailed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo is scheduled to be transferred from the Pasig City Jail to the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City sometime this week, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) said Wednesday.
BJMP spokesperson Jail Supt. Jayrex Bustinera confirmed that the commitment order for Guo’s transfer was received by the Pasig City Jail Female Dormitory last Tuesday.
“We will transfer her within the week,” Bustinera said.
Guo’s transfer is pending her medical and laboratory examination, a standard procedure before any detainee is moved to a different detention facility.
Bustinera expects Guo to be moved once medical clearance is issued.
The transfer follows a life imprisonment sentence handed down by the Pasig Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 167 last week, after Guo was convicted of qualified human trafficking.
The court earlier denied a motion filed by Guo’s legal team seeking to keep her detained at the Pasig City Jail Female Dormitory instead of being moved to the CIW.
Guo and others were charged with violation of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003, as amended by the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Acts of 2012 and 2022.
