Gilas sinks Guam anew

Gilas Pilipinas re-asserted its mastery over Guam, 95-71, to stay unbeaten in the FIBA Basketball World Cup Asian Qualifiers at the Blue Eagle Gym in Ateneo de Manila University on Monday.

Justin Brownlee led Gilas with 20 points, five rebounds and seven assists as they picked up back-to-back wins in the first window of the World Cup Qualifiers.

The Philippines led 32-15 at the end of the first quarter and kept its lead for the rest of the game.

A putback shot from Quentin Millora-Brown with 4:05 left in the second frame gave Gilas their biggest lead of the game, 47-20.

Dwight Ramos scored 19 points and seven rebounds for the Philippines while Kevin Quiambao had 12 points, four boards and five assists.

Japeth Aguilar scored three points in his final game for Gilas.

Jericho Cruz led Guam with 27 points in a losing effort.
