A female motorcycle rider died Friday afternoon after her vehicle collided with a utility van on Payatas Road near Mayon Avenue in Barangay San Jose, Rodriguez, Rizal.
Police identified the victim only as “Grace,” 30, who was pronounced dead on arrival at a nearby hospital.
Initial investigation indicated that the victim, riding a Honda motorcycle, was traveling toward Barangay Silangan, Quezon City, when she encountered a boulder in the middle of the road.
She reportedly lost her balance while trying to avoid the obstacle and collided with an oncoming Mitsubishi L300 van.
The victim went underneath the van following the collision.
Traffic Management and Regulation Unit (TMRU) personnel who first responded to the scene arrested the 48-year-old driver of the van, identified only as “Aris.” The TMRU documented the final positions of the vehicles, noting that the incident occurred within the lane of the L300 van.
The driver was turned over to the Rodriguez Municipal Police Station and faces charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.
