Manila Electric Company (Meralco), led by Manuel V. Pangilinan, received the Platinum award at the 2025 Asia Integrated Reporting Awards (AIRA) for its inaugural One Meralco 2024 Integrated Report in the First-Time Category. The report was recognized as the highest-scoring entry among first-time submissions from Asia, the Pacific, and the Middle East.
The Asia Integrated Reporting Awards recognize excellence in sustainability and integrated reporting. Winners are selected through a multi-stage evaluation process, including reputation checks.
The award highlights Meralco’s efforts to enhance corporate transparency, accountability, and reporting in the Philippines. The One Meralco 2024 Integrated Report provides a detailed overview of the company’s strategy, governance, performance, and outlook, with an emphasis on long-term value creation.
“Stakeholders’ interests go beyond financial and operational figures. Climate risks, social impact, and governance are now key drivers of value and play an increasingly important role in decision-making,” said Meralco First Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer Raymond B. Ravelo. “By embedding these into our reporting framework ahead of regulatory timelines, we are preparing Meralco not only to meet current reporting requirements, but also to address future opportunities and challenges.”
Meralco’s 2024 Integrated Report is among the first in the Philippines to adopt both the International Integrated Reporting Framework and the IFRS S2 Climate-related Disclosures standard ahead of the Securities and Exchange Commission’s mandate. It also includes the company’s first double materiality assessment, evaluating both the impact of its operations on people and the environment, and the financial implications of sustainability risks and opportunities.
The report formally introduces “One Meralco,” which integrates the operations of Meralco and its subsidiaries into a single narrative reflecting economic, environmental, and social value creation.
“The AIRA winners are redefining corporate transparency and long-term value creation through integrated thinking,” said Rajesh Chhabara, Managing Director of CSRWorks International and founder of the Asia Integrated Reporting Awards.
