The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Friday said it has intensified operations against the sale and distribution of illegal firecrackers ahead of the holiday season.
PNP acting chief Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the crackdown targets both physical stores and online marketplaces, where sellers have increasingly shifted to evade inspection.
Nartatez ordered all police units nationwide to conduct regular inspections in areas known for firecracker sales, including Bocaue, Bulacan, and to monitor online platforms for prohibited listings.
He said the PNP is coordinating with relevant agencies to identify and apprehend individuals involved in unauthorized online sales.
“Even online posts that promote or sell prohibited firecrackers are part of our regular monitoring,” he added.
Meanwhile, Nartatez directed all local police commanders to take immediate action against vendors violating firecracker regulations.
Authorities are encouraging the public to report illegal sellers to help facilitate enforcement.
