Davao gymnasts chase Thai Open glory

DAVAO CITY — After a fruitful performance in the 2025 STY International Gymnastics Cup recently, Davao City’s promising gymnasts set its eyes on competing in the Thailand Open Championships next year.
According to Davao Golden Twist Gymnastics Club president Liezl Janet Sangutan, they have a promising core of young gymnasts who can make an impact in the prestigious international event next year.
“We have a core of young and aspiring gymnasts which recently had impressive performances in the 2025 STY International competition and the Batang Pinoy Games,” Sangutan said during the weekly Davao Sportswriters Association Forum on Thursday.
“This time, we set our sights at the Thailand Open next year.”
Joining Sangutan at the weekly sports Forum were athletes Savannah Atienza Gaurino, Nyla Shereen Bantog, Rylie Leuna Naquines, Arabella Brielle Razalo and Sheila Mivia Cloribel, who each won four gold medals in the STY tournament that drew the participation of over 800 athletes from countries like Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Japan and India at the Alonte Sports Arena last October.
Also present were Audrey Keiza Narciso, Kirby Aiken Narciso, Shanairah Maria Isabelle Bantog, Amber Margarette Duhaylungsod, Kendra Mejos, Paulinus Mejos and Kirby Narciso, who also won respective gold, silver and bronze medals.
