Makati City Mayor Nancy Binay has commended the Makati City Police for the arrest of a notorious “salisi” suspect who allegedly operated across Metro Manila and nearby provinces using multiple aliases and falsified identification.

The Makati City Police Station, led by Officer-in-Charge PCOL Pedro A. Alagano Jr., apprehended the suspect identified as Chedita Tacata Tan, who also reportedly used several aliases including “Melinda,” “Cherry Rodriguez Tan,” “Anna Baler Rosero,” “Mae Anne Tuano Cruz,” and “Erlinda Tacata Tan.”

“I want to personally commend the quick action and relentless dedication of the Makati City Police. Their successful apprehension of this long-operating suspect is proof of our focused efforts on fighting crime. My administration remains committed to ensuring that every resident and visitor feels safe and secure in Makati,” Mayor Binay said.

The 58-year-old messenger from Trece Martires, Cavite, was arrested at 12:02 p.m. on November 24, 2025, inside a building along Rufino Street, Barangay San Lorenzo, Makati City, for falsification of public documents and use of fictitious name.

The arrest was prompted by a complaint from a security officer named Ernesto, who reported that the suspect attempted to enter the premises by falsely claiming to be an employee and presenting a Philippine Postal ID under the name “Chedita.” The company’s HR head happened to pass by and immediately recognized her as the same woman involved in a “salisi” theft incident in the establishment on September 17, 2025.

Verification via the PhilPost Verification App later confirmed that the Postal ID was fake, and scanning the QR code revealed an entirely different identity.

Authorities expect the arrest to provide relief to establishments and communities repeatedly targeted by “salisi” and pickpocket syndicates.

The case forms part of the ongoing coordination between the City Government of Makati and the Makati City Police to enhance crime prevention, investigative capacity, and the tracking of wanted persons. The initiative also aligns with the 7-Focus Agenda of Acting PNP Chief PLTGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., particularly in modernizing police operations and cracking down on habitual offenders.

Mayor Binay lauded the vigilance of police and security personnel and reminded the public to remain alert, especially during the holiday season.

“As we enter the Christmas season, more people are visiting malls, parks, churches, and public spaces. I urge everyone to be extra vigilant, secure their belongings, and immediately report any suspicious individuals or activities to our authorities. The safety of every Makati resident remains our top priority,” she said.
