Man, 53, falls with P544K shabu


TALISAY CITY, Cebu — Joint operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas (PDEA-7) and the Talisay City Police Station arrested an alleged drug personality during a buy-bust operation in Sitio Salvador, Barangay Tangke, at around 6:07 p.m. on Thursday.
PDEA-7 regional director Joel B. Plaza identified the suspect as alias Peter, 53, unemployed, and a resident of Barangay Tangke.
Authorities seized six packs of suspected shabu, or methamphetamine hydrochloride, weighing about 80 grams and with an estimated market value of P544,000.
Operatives also recovered the buy-bust money and other non-drug items during the operation.
The seized drug evidence was submitted to the PDEA-7 Regional Office Laboratory for qualitative and quantitative examination and proper disposition.
The suspect is temporarily detained at the PDEA-7 office in Lahug, Cebu City, while authorities prepare charges for alleged violations of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Section 5 penalizes the sale, trading, delivery or distribution of dangerous drugs, while Section 11 covers possession of dangerous drugs.
