BAGUIO CITY — Baguio City Vice Mayor Faustino Olowan said “truth has prevailed” after the Commission on Elections (Comelec) First Division officially dismissed the disqualification case filed against him by a former city councilor.
“…the baseless allegations aimed at distracting us from our work have been put to rest,” Olowan said.
The complaint was filed by former Baguio City councilor and vice mayoral candidate Maria Mylen Victoria G. Yaranon, who accused Olowan of illegal campaigning on the eve of the May 2025 midterm elections.
According to the vice mayor, the ruling was entered into the Book of Entries of Judgment on 4 November 2025, making it immediately executory. He added that his office received formal notice of the decision’s finality on 18 November 2025.
Olowan said the legal victory is not just his but also for his supporters who trusted his platform of honest and dedicated public service. With the case dismissed, he said he can now “move forward and continue working for the welfare of the people of Baguio.”
He also expressed gratitude to the Comelec for addressing the case with fairness and objectivity.
