The Department of Tourism (DOT) has partnered with Millennial Zeal Technology Corporation (MZTC), the official distributor of OPPO Philippines, to enhance the agency’s communications and program implementation through the use of OPPO’s latest smartphones and Internet of Things (IoT) devices.
The agreement, signed on 17 November at the DOT Central Office in Makati, forms part of the agency’s efforts to integrate technology into tourism promotion, site monitoring, and information services nationwide.
“This partnership is anchored on the DOT’s advocacies of pursuing sustainability, responsible tourism, inclusiveness in our tourism promotion and development, and effective communications,” Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco said. She added that the collaboration aligns with the Marcos administration’s goal of empowering tourists with reliable technology and accurate information while ensuring that tourism benefits local communities.
Under the one-year partnership, OPPO will equip all 18 DOT regional offices with smartphones and IoT tools to support content production, documentation, on-site reporting, and coordination with local governments. The devices will also be deployed across 12 Tourist Rest Areas nationwide to improve visitor assistance and real-time information access.
Frasco said OPPO’s technology will help the DOT “keep the public informed on all the Department’s advocacies, initiatives, and programs, while empowering our teams in carrying out our mandate.”
OPPO officials said the partnership demonstrates the company’s broader push to support national development through technology. “This collaboration will help our tourism frontliners, creators, and regional offices tell those stories with clarity, consistency, and pride,” said Joanarc Sales, OPPO’s Associate Marketing Director.
The partnership will also support the modernization of the DOT’s Hop-On-Hop-Off Tours and strengthen regional promotion efforts under the Philippine Experience Program through OPPO’s content and retail platforms.
The signing was witnessed by senior DOT officials and OPPO executives, including OPPO CEO Damon Huang and COO Leo Li.
