The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cautioned the public against buying or selling any health product that does not have FDA authorization — whether in physical stores or on online platforms.

In an advisory released on 11 November and obtained by DAILY TRIBUNE on Monday, the agency stressed that unauthorized products — those without a Certificate of Product Notification (CPN) or a Certificate of Product Registration (CPR) — have not undergone the FDA’s quality and safety review.

“Such products may contain harmful ingredients or impurities that may pose health risks to consumers, such as allergies, skin problems, or other adverse health issues,” the FDA warned.

Beyond prohibiting the purchase and sale of unauthorized items, the advisory also bans their manufacture, importation, exportation, distribution, promotion, advertising, or sponsorship.

The FDA issued a stern reminder to establishments that distributing unauthorized health products carries penalties under Republic Act No. 9711, or the Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009.
