Two women died after a fire struck a residential area in Antipolo City on Wednesday night, police reported.
The blaze broke out in Zone 10, Barangay San Roque, around 8 p.m.
Antipolo police identified the fatalities as a 68-year-old woman, identified only by the alias Marieta, and a 28-year-old woman with a disability, identified as alias Catherine.
The incident was reported to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) of Antipolo City. Upon arrival, BFP personnel found the fire had already spread rapidly to nearby houses, prompting immediate suppression efforts. The fire was declared under control by 8:35 p.m. and officially declared fire out around 10 p.m.
An investigation conducted by the Antipolo Component City Police Station revealed the victims were found lifeless inside the comfort room of their residence. Catherine was discovered lying in the bathroom gutter, and Marieta was found inside the comfort room itself.
