Thousands of South Metro residents take shelter from Uwan

Thousands of residents in the South Metro sought shelter in evacuation centers over the weekend as Super Typhoon Uwan brought heavy rains and winds across Luzon.

In Parañaque City, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) reported that 1,610 families or 6,049 individuals went into 30 evacuation centers as of 6:00 a.m. Monday. The largest number of evacuees were from Barangays San Isidro, San Dionisio, Moonwalk, and Sto. Niño. 

In Muntinlupa, 1,729 families preemptively evacuated as precaution against flooding and other hazards. The Muntinlupa Public Information Office said some families have begun returning home on Monday morning as weather conditions improved.

Las Piñas City recorded 734 families or  2,551 individuals who sought shelter in evacuation sites.  All evacuation centers had been closed as of 1:40 p.m. 

Pasay City reported a total of 228 families or 816 individuals who went to evacuation centers. As of 12:27 p.m., most evacuation centers have been closed, with only four sites open.

In Makati City, only one evacuee remained as of 1:52 p.m. located in Brgy Bangkal.
