Police arrested a 41-year-old man Thursday night after he was caught openly carrying an unlicensed handgun and holding a sachet of suspected illegal drugs along Arsonvel Street in Barangay San Isidro, Makati City.
The suspect, identified by police under the alias Felipe, faces formal criminal complaints for violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
The arrest followed a telephone call from a concerned citizen who reported a man creating a public disturbance by flagrantly displaying a handgun. Responding motorcycle officers from Substation 3 patrolled the area to verify the tip.
Upon arrival, officers spotted a 9mm pistol tucked into the right waistband of the suspect’s shorts in plain view. Officers approached the man, identified themselves, and took him into custody without incident.
During a subsequent body search, operatives recovered the loaded firearm and a heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing a white crystalline substance suspected to be methamphetamine, locally known as shabu.
