As super typhoon "Uwan" looms over Northern and Central Luzon, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has stepped up its disaster response readiness by deploying additional teams and assets under the Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM) on 9 November 2025.
The reinforcements — composed of personnel and equipment from the Philippine Army, Philippine Navy, and Philippine Air Force — are part of the AFP’s proactive measures to ensure rapid, coordinated, and effective humanitarian assistance across the regions expected to bear the brunt of the storm.
“We are standing as one in preparing for the possible adverse effects of Super Typhoon Uwan,” said Lieutenant General Aristotle D. Gonzalez, Commander of NOLCOM. “With the combined capabilities of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, we are fully committed to deliver immediate assistance and ensure the safety of our people.”
The AFP has positioned Search, Rescue, and Retrieval Teams, Water Search and Rescue Teams, engineering and medical units, as well as mobility assets including trucks and watercraft for deployment in close coordination with the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) and Regional and Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils (R/PDRRMCs).
To maintain real-time situational awareness, NOLCOM’s Emergency Monitoring and Action Cell and Battle Staff Alpha remain activated, keeping watch over weather developments and ensuring efficient coordination of all AFP disaster response operations. Liaison officers are also on the ground to synchronize efforts with local disaster management centers.
The AFP reaffirmed its commitment to work hand-in-hand with civilian agencies and local governments in protecting lives and property — ready to mobilize wherever help is needed as Typhoon Uwan nears landfall.
