The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Typhoon #UwanPH may intensify into a super typhoon by tonight, 8 November, or early tomorrow morning, 9 November.

In its 5 p.m. bulletin, PAGASA reported that Uwan is moving west northwestward at 30 km/h and was last spotted east of Catarman, Northern Samar, or 620 km east of Virac, Catanduanes.

Uwan currently has maximum sustained winds of 150 km/h near the center and gusts of up to 185 km/h.

The typhoon is forecast to make landfall tomorrow evening or early Monday (10 November) over the northern or central portion of Aurora. However, PAGASA said a landfall over Catanduanes or a slight southward shift remains possible, which may result in a direct hit.

After crossing land, Uwan is expected to move across the mountainous terrain of Northern Luzon and emerge over the coastal waters of Pangasinan or La Union on Monday morning or afternoon, likely retaining its typhoon strength.
