The Provincial Government of Pampanga is preparing to face the potential impacts of Super Typhoon Uwan.
According to Pampanga Vice Governor Dennis "Delta" Pineda, vehicles and disaster response equipment of the Capitol are now fully prepped and on standby at the Provincial Engineering Office compound in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga, as of Saturday.
The fleet includes fire trucks, dump trucks, heavy equipment, rescue boats, and other machinery essential for disaster response operations. Vice Gov. Pineda emphasized that these assets are being thoroughly checked to ensure they remain operational throughout the storm.
He also urged rescue personnel to strictly adhere to safety protocols during operations to prevent accidents and ensure efficient response.
Following the inspection, Vice Gov. Pineda proceeded to the Command and Control Center, where he monitored the storm’s movement in real time. The center uses the Capitol’s CCTV system to observe coastal barangays and other vulnerable areas.
In Barangay San Juan Baño, at the foot of Mt. Arayat, local officials conducted virtual testing of early warning devices including sirens, while monitoring landslide sensors to prepare for possible soil erosion or landslides.
Meanwhile, the provincial government has begun preparing sandbags and prepositioning 36,287 relief packs and 60,760 canned goods for immediate distribution during relief efforts.
Vice Gov. Pineda also confirmed that evacuation centers are now ready to accommodate residents fleeing high-risk coastal and upland areas, including those near Mt. Arayat. These centers are equipped with food, sleeping mats, blankets, and staffed with medical teams on standby.
“We are ready to assist all Kapampangans who may be affected by this typhoon. Our disaster response measures are in place and we urge everyone to stay vigilant and safe,” Pineda said.
