A 39-year-old man from Antipolo City was arrested at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 before he could leave the country for violating Batas Pambansa Blg. 22, or the Bouncing Checks Law, the Philippine National Police–Aviation Security Group (PNP-AVSEGROUP) reported Saturday.
According to authorities, the Bureau of Immigration intercepted the passenger at the international departure area on Friday after its border control system flagged him as the subject of a bench warrant of arrest issued by the Metropolitan Trial Court of Muntinlupa City in August 2024.
Court records showed that the warrant stemmed from the man’s failure to appear in a hearing for his B.P. 22 case, with bail set at P6,000. He was reportedly bound for Taipei, Taiwan, when authorities apprehended him.
The PNP-AVSEGROUP said the passenger is now under the custody of the NAIA Police Station 3 for documentation and turnover to proper authorities.
