The late Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago was visited by her fans and supporters at her tomb at Loyola Memorial Park in Marikina City on Saturday, 1 November.

One visitor, Rolly Marbella, remembered the late senator as an exemplary public servant, saying that if she were alive, she would “slap corrupt politicians” involved in anomalous flood control projects.

“We’re always here during Sundays. When she was still alive, she did good things for us,” said Marbella, who worked with the late senator’s husband, Atty. Jun Santiago, in an interview with the DAILY TRIBUNE.

“As long as we’re alive, we will continue to take care of the late senator,” he added.

Marbella said he and other supporters visit the late senator’s tomb at least once a week to clean it.

“We don’t want others to clean,” he said.

He described Santiago as an honest and outstanding public servant.

“If she were still alive, she would slap the faces of government officials and politicians involved in corruption,” he said.

Marbella also urged the youth to emulate what the late senator did as a dedicated public servant.
