De Lima: Pray for violence victims

Mamamayang Liberal Party Rep. Leila de Lima urged Filipinos to include in their Undas prayers those who lost their lives to violence and injustice.
In her social media post on Sunday, De Lima reflected on the meaning of All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days, saying it is a time to remember loved ones who have passed and to cherish those still with us.
“In the gathering of family, during moments of silence and reflection, we realize how fast time passes, how precious life is, and how we must make the most of the remaining time we have with our loved ones,” she said in Filipino.
De Lima said the pain of loss is even deeper for families of victims of violence who continue to seek justice.
“We should also include in our prayers our countrymen who were denied life by violence, the disappeared whose families do not know their fate, and those who were left behind, still waiting for justice,” she added.
The lawmaker also took a subtle swipe at individuals who, though alive, have “lost their sense of what is right and just.”
“Let us also pray for those who are still alive, but whose principles for what is right, just, and accountable have died. They will be held accountable to the people,” De Lima said.
